I'll begin a coding bootcamp in the beginning of August. As with all bootcamps, there's a significant investment involved, personally, I invested $17,000. As an investment, I want to make sure that I get as much out of the bootcamp. Going into the bootcamp, there are 3 things that I've done/plan to do to gain as much as I can from the experience. This post also serves are a reminder to me on my goals and objectives as I go through this experience.
1. I have a single objective
The next three months will be difficult, but very simple - simple in the sense that I will not have any competing priorities. I have one single objective, which is code. I've prepared myself by ensuring that my bills, and responsibilities have all been covered. I will not be working during this 3.5 months, I will not be taking on any side projects, my phone is on do not disturb. No social media (except for youtube for tutorials), or social events. It's difficult to do, I realize that - but then again it will only be for 3.5 months and I'll be a new and better version of myself.
2. I'm removing all distractions
Although I'll be attending this bootcamp online, I won't be at home - It's far too comfortable of an environment, that, and it's full of distractions - my bed, fridge, everything. I'll be driving in to an office every single day of the 3.5 months in order to be able to work and study in a quite, solitary, distraction-free environment. Along with working at an office, I'll be leaving my phone in my car every single day. The only time I'll check my phone is during lunch - this is once again to avoid all distractions.
3. Exercise will be part of my daily routine
The office I will be studying at is very close to a basketball court, I plan to utilize court everyday after studying. Not for long, just to get my mind relaxed and my body engaged. Studying for over 10 hours a day will be stressful, exercise will help in reliving the stress while ensuring that my health does not suffer.
