Project Overview
Host Front is an AI-first customer operations layer for WHMCS hosting providers. Hosting companies configure their WHMCS Remote API credentials in a SaaS admin dashboard, embed a widget on their site, and let end customers authenticate via email OTP to pay invoices, view and create support tickets, reset passwords, and access help content — all through a conversational interface. The platform is multi-tenant by design: every database query, JWT, and WHMCS API call is scoped by tenantId.

Challenges
- Designing strict multi-tenant isolation so WHMCS credentials, conversations, and widget bootstrap data can never leak across hosting providers.
- Integrating with the WHMCS Remote API for account validation, invoices, tickets, and password resets while keeping all secrets server-side and never exposing them to the embeddable widget.
- Building an embeddable widget that renders inside Shadow DOM to avoid CSS conflicts with arbitrary host websites.
Learnings & Takeaways
- Architecting a SaaS backend where the AI orchestration and WHMCS tool execution happen exclusively server-side — the widget is a thin client for OTP auth, conversation UI, and SSE streaming.
- Implementing email OTP authentication that resolves WHMCS clients by verified email and issues tenant-scoped JWTs with whmcsClientId.
- Shipping a standalone widget build pipeline separate from the Next.js dashboard, using esbuild to produce a single embeddable script for third-party sites.
